Add Color to Your Style for Fall 2009

As your fashion consultant, I definitely say that this fall there are some great colorful options to choose from to give your wardrobe a “jolt”.  Add just a little or add a lot — it’s up to you!  I am loving purple, red, raspberry tones (see the Theory dress from my last blog on Fall 2009) and I am loving the idea of pairing these colors with my black and neutral pieces, just like the looks shown above.

Here’s a great piece — an orange blouse from forever21.com for under $30!  It would be beautiful with jeans or under a brown suit.  It’s shown here with black but be careful when pairing black and orange — always add another color to the mix, such as cream, brown or even navy — lest you look like you’re gearing up for Halloween!

And, speaking of beautiful tops to go with jeans and casual pants, here’s one from Leaves of Grass that’s available online at net-a-porter.com.  The bright blue is striking and very flattering.  Check out my blog on what to wear with jeans for more ideas on flattering tops.

I love purple and both of these two great pieces.  The dress is from juicycouture.com and the bag, which combine two of my style loves: purple and fringe (see my blog on fringe), is availabe at shopbop.com.

There is something terrific in almost every hue this season!  The yellow dress is from Kate Spade’s new clothing line.  Please check out all her looks at katespade.com — every piece is really adorable.  I’m not sure what stores will be carrying her pieces but I will be on the lookout for them.  The middle dress is a beautiful blue velvet from Vena Cava, a couple of very hip designers, and is available at Barneys New York.  The dress on the right is from Marc by Marc Jacobs, whose fall line is looking better than what he’s shown for the past few years.  I’m very excited about his dresses and coats once again.

As we Chicagoans know, the winter is long and grey…so add to your wardrobe this year and lighten your spirits with a bit of brightness.

I’m feeling very inspired to zap my wardrobe with color…how about you?!
