Look of The Week: I Still LOVE Boho-Chic

Like Huarche sandals (see my earlier blog), cardigan sweaters, black dresses and platform shoes, I cannot get past my love affair with bohemian dresses, tops and accessories.  Because of my build (small and curvy), certain bohemian dresses don’t suit me  But, I can find tops and other dresses that do and I never pass them up.

Recently, I shopped with a new customer who purchased a dress that I was crazy for –  this Rebecca Taylor butterfly printed, maxi beauty (yes, I love butterfly prints, too — see my earlier blog on this).  It was fabulous on her — she had the perfect look and build for it — and she paired it with Tory Burch gold flat sandals.

The only rule I think important to follow when wearing a bohemian piece, is not to get too costumey looking.  You don’t want to appear as if you just stepped off the stage of the new “Hair” on Broadway (One of my all-time favorite musicals and I hear it’s touring in Chicago next year!).

Boho-Chic doesn’t have to mean you aren’t looking like a lady either.  Look at this lovely dress from INC – International Concepts (available at Bloomies and Macys).  It’s got that boho vibe but it’s something you could definitely wear to work.

Check out Daughters of the Revolution for dreamy, bohemian dresses (see the orange, purple and yellow piece above from their collection), Forever XXI for inexpensive boho tops for over jeans, and Kensie (another inexpensive line found at Macys’s) for long, hippy dresses.  And, don’t forget the beads!
