It’s Time for a New Purse
I have been carrying my Prada black nylon tote/purse for about 4 years now. Of course, I have bought some other purses during that time — mostly smaller bags for luncheons, dinners and parties. I have yet to find a better day bag that I can use when working, shopping with a customer or hanging with my famiily at Sam’s Club. But, to be honest, I want something fresh. The purse is looking sad (I’ve popped it into my washing machine at least half a dozen times) and it has travelled on many a trip with me.
Do I dare buy the exact same bag again? It’s tempting. And, I’ve been checking out Prada nylons for awhile, hoping to find something similar but something slightly different so I can get excited about it.
Here’s a new version of my favorite and it’s available at the Prada outlet (myluxurybags.com) for under $300 — very tempting!
For me, buying a purse is somewhat like choosing a spouse. It’s a very important decision because I want to want to hang with this bag (or at least have it hanging on me) for a long time. I don’t like cheap purses — ok, once in awhile you find a great, cheap bag that doesn’t scream “crap” — and I like to use my purses for a very long time, so I can justify the expense. I look and I look but I dont’ buy. Whereas with dresses, it takes me two seconds to decide to purchase one. You wear the dress ten times and it’s paid you back already — not so a purse.
So, the hunt is on.
Here are a few choices I’ve been contemplating:
These are Lockheart purses, available at Saks Fifth Avenue. They retail for about $500-$600 and are quite nice. These bags are leather but are lightweight and the flower version also comes in a black/green/gold color combo. Lots of pockets and details and kind-of a bohemian vibe. I like them but will I like one of these for more than just a couple of months??? Difficult to know.
This is another Prada option, also available at myluxurybags.com for much less than the retail stores. They say they are authentic — I NEVER buy fakes, won’t support the buying of fakes and will check this out before making any purchases. Great deal if it’s real. This bag can go over my shoulder, which is important when riding my bike this summer.
Here are some bags I dream about:
Marc Jacobs heart tote for about $1300. I am going to search like crazy for this one to go to ebay or elsewhere. I LOVE it!!!
This Gucci reminds me of my youth and it smells and feels so genuine and hand-tooled. I Want It soooo much. I continue to dream. It’s perfect. Over the shoulder, great color, great design. A real splurge.
Lastly, I have wanted a Louis Vuitton tote for forever but just never felt I could do it. Here’s the one I like — the “neverfull” canvas tote. It’s $700 and will last longer than me but it doesn’t have good pockets, so is it worth it???
