Shoes for Spring — The Dream vs. Reality
The shoe choices are endless right now. I am drooling over the sandals, platforms, wedges, bohemian looks, gladiators, colors and patents. What to do when one pair won’t cut it and budgets are tight????
Make great choices and put your money on the sure bets.
Need a pick-me-up while the weather is still iffy? Purchase a shoe that will take you from now through May, such as a shoe that’s slightly open/slightly closed and can be worn with tights or without. Here are some options:
This is a Robert Clergerie fabulous platform shoe that sells for $625 at Barneys New York. Robert Clergerie has been one of my favorite shoe designers for close to twenty years — he has defined the trends, but his shoes are super expensive and difficult to find sometimes. Here’s a couple of great alternatives:
The larger shoe pictured above is a Stuart Weitzman black suede high heel (called the Nanette) and is now available at bluefly.com for $213, orginally it sold for close to $400. This shoe can be worn with jeans or dresses, with tights for colder weather and without tights for early Spring weather. It’s beautiful.
The smaller shoe above is from Target and can be purchased online at target.com for $19.99. I bought them last week and wore them with tights and a cute brown dress to a party. They were comfortable and flattering. Target has immense choices this season and it’s pretty much guilt-free shopping.
This is the coolest shoe I’ve seen in awhile; though it’s not for everyone. And, because it’s retailing for close to $1,000, it will remain a dream shoe for me. This shoe is by Ann Demeulmeester and can be found at saksfifthavenue.com in black or bone. How fabulous these would look with tights and a short simple black dress or with jeans rolled up just a bit to show the ankle, with or without socks…totally awesome!
This Michael Kors bohemian-styled beaded sandal is also available at saks for about $220. I love it. But it, too, shall remain a dream. What I will consider is one of these beaded sandals, again available at target.com for $19.99!
All of the shoes at the top of this blog are dream shoes and include a Prada, Christian Louboutin and another Michael Kors — all but one that is. One of those shoes is from Target and costs far less than the other choices. If you can spot it, email me at susan@ostrovs.com and win a free one-hour shopping consultation. Good Luck!
