Everyday Shoes and Boots for Fall 2008
My fall and winter shoe wardrobe is fairly substantial. I have black boots, brown boots, low-heeled boots, high-heeled, thigh high and platform. So, unless I need to replace an old pair or I happen upon something really fantastic, I try to save my money for other items. I did in fact find a pair of boots worth drooling over for fall. However, they were way beyond my budget. So, I went searching for something similar.
Here’s the first boot. It is by Ruthie Davis who really makes extraordinary shoes and boots. These are available at shopbop.com and are $1,295.

I found some comparable boots at Victoria’s Secret (where I also found some great thigh highs – see my blog on thigh high boots for more info). I admit they’re not quite as great but they are a decent substitute for about one-tenth the price.

When I’m not wearing boots, I am usually dressed either for a party and have my platform Fendi’s from last year or I’m wearing my Clergeries with pants and skirts for a more casual look. No one make a better shoe than Robert Clergerie. Luckily, I bought my shoes years ago when the prices were not quite so outrageous. They are an everlasting style and truly comfortable and fashion forward. Invest in a pair or two and you’ll never be sorry.
Here’s his basic wedge, available at Neiman’s for $415.

Zappos.com carries a large collection of Clergerie shoes. I love these wedges, new for fall 2008 and retailing for $699 (yikes!):

And, here’s a great pair of Clergerie suede, maryjane platforms. They are available at Zappos.com for $324.

One additional style of shoe that I am adding to my wardrobe this fall is a lower-heeled, square toed pump. Tory Burch has really done well with this style. And, though I cannot stand how she plants her initials so loudly on almost everything she designs, I do like a lot of what she creates. Here are some Tory Burch shoes for fall that are quite wearable and will add to any wardrobe. All are available online at toryburch.com and retail for about $350-$375. I think I may have to have the purple sandals and will wear them with tights and dresses and with jeans.
