It’s Like Art

I see so many beautiful dresses, jackets, shoes, purses, necklaces and I admit that I want to own them all.  Being a consumer can be fulfilling but it can also feel a little gross when one overindulges — just like eating too many Oreos.  At some point there is definitely a diminishing return on your investment.  Afterall, one can only wear one outfit at a time and except for the occasional black suit that goes everywhere or your favorite flip-flops,  clothing rarely wears out.

Especially as I prowl through websites for inspiration for my customers, I see so much that I love that I have taken on a new thought process when it comes to clothes:  I need to view it the same way that I see art.  Look at it, enjoy it and realize that there are only so many walls in my home and so many dollars in my purse.  In other words, it can’t always be purchased.

Great design is an art and that’s why I’ve always enjoyed looking through fashion magazines.  I love to see a beaufitul outift designed with care and made with fabric so lovely it’s almost delicious.

So buy what you love, what you need and what makes you most happy.  But find joy in discovering new designers, new looks and realize that you cannot have it all… and having it all is not always about owning it all.
