The Best is Always the Simplest

When putting together a wardrobe, whether it be for work, parties, casual events, daytime wear or for exercise, the simplest is always the best.

Find what you’re comfortable in and stick with it. For example, I prefer black workout clothing because I am busty and black slims the bust and. I sweat a lot and black doesn’t show the sweat as much. For years I would buy myself workout tops and pants in various colors because I thought it was important to vary my look. I was never comfortable in the light-colored tops – either my breasts looked enormous or my nipples showed through more, etc… So, now I just buy black. I’m no longer self-conscious about my body while running or takng a class and I no longer feel guilty about not wearing some top I just paid too much money for…

For daytime, I was always trying to find the right jeans. I found a couple of pairs but to me jeans aren’t really that comfortable. Finally, I realized that my favorite daytime outfit for running around in is a simple black dress. In winter I pair the dress with tights and boots and a cardigan and in summer with flip-flops. I also wear dresses in various colors but they are always easy to wear pieces that flatter my figure without overemphasizing my curves but without hiding them either. I have learned that no one realizes that I wear the same or similar dress a lot because I put different necklaces, bracelets, or sweaters on to change it up a bit. I’m comfortable and always feel chic.

If an outfit is too complicated, it’s not for me.

Lesson: Don’t follow trends, listen to your own body, your own inner voice and choose your clothing to please yourself.
